After bringing the Nike Air Max Sunder into the Sneaker of the Year conversation at the end of 2024, Kids of Immigrants is back with a new friends & family colorway of the retro 90s cross-trainer. Like most F&F releases, this colorway isn’t for sale, but the public does have a chance to get a pair. In a unique brand-led raffle, Kids of Immigrants is giving away the shoes, but only to worthy recipients.
Instead of a traditional raffle, Kids of Immigrants is asking sneakerheads to nominate someone in their life who serves the people around them, makes the community move, and gives back to the greater good, continuing a unique distribution style the brand started in person in Las Vegas last weekend. Once the nominations are collected along with an explanation of their service, winners will be picked at random to receive the shoes free of charge, minus shipping, of course, with an expectation that the pair will be gifted to the nominated person.
The Moonlight colorway of the collab Sunder first surfaced in leaked photos from the beginning of 2025, but there was no hint at the unique release method that’s now unfolding. Starting with a grey ripstop upper, the side panels feature a lattice of support panels criss-crossing up the shoe in a shimmering blue gradient that ends in teal at the top. The toe gets steel blue suede, and the branding and extra accents are all done in golden yellow for a gorgeous take on the classic silhouette. Like the original project, there are plenty of hidden elements that nod to KOI.
