The New Balance 1890 is the Boston-based brand’s latest hype-ready silhouette. Debuting with the help of Action Bronson’s BAKLAVA line and previews of a CDG pack, the first run of in-line colorways hit the ground running. Now, the collab energy is back with a nod to the golden era of hip-hop music videos.

We first got a preview of Joe’s 1890 pack at the top of the month, and now he’s giving us a quick look at both pairs. The heat map style design was directly influenced by music videos from the early 2000s directed by legends like Hype Williams, Director X, and Benny Boom. “I used to run home from school just to catch my favorite rap videos in the 90’s. All the bold colors and crazy energy,” Joe wrote on Instagram. “Busta & Janet, Missy…Juvenile ‘Ha.’ It all did something to me. The Box is the lens. Fish Eye type beat.”
As of now, we don’t have a release date or retail price on the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1890 Music Video Pack, but Joe noted that it was “coming soon,” so expect them sometime in the near future.
