Is the third time a charm? It’s been a long time since the days of Jordan and Pippen, but courtside at a Chicago Bulls game is still a place to see and be seen. For Fear of God owner Jerry Jorenzo, the United Center was the perfect place to debut his latest adidas silhouette, the adidas Fear of God Athletics Basketball 3.

The latest evolution of Lorenzo’s partnership with the Three Stripes comes after a Basketball II collab with Derrick Rose, so the Chicago setting makes perfect sense. Continuing the bulky one-piece design language that garnered mixed reviews for the first two and a half installments of the FOG adidas Basketball line, the Basketball 3 debut is a mute grey monotone with perforated suede across the toe, sectioned panels on either side of the toe in smooth suede, and distinctly shaded Three Stripes graphics across the side panels. The chunky midsole is a mix of cream and white, with thick white rope laces to match.

After establishing himself with Fear of God clothing and his incredibly popular Essentials line, Lorenzo’s foray into basketball with adidas has been notably mediocre, with little push behind the designs from adidas and what seems like stunted progression on the design side. The newly debuted Basketball 3 looks to be more wearable than the first two, but that’s not saying much. We’re also still waiting for the II.5 to debut, a zipper version of the FOG Athletics Basketball 2.

So far, we’ve only seen the shoe in the courtside shots of Lorenzo at the Bulls game and some quick in-hand previews, but there is no release date or retail price as of yet. For all the latest on the Fear of God Athletics adidas partnership, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
