Going from rapper to fashion designer, Jae Tips has always bet on himself. Consistency has been the name of his game, and after years dropping fire hat collabs and doing bespoke sneakers that would go viral online, Saucony gave Tips his flowers. Well, we should say it the other way around, as Jae Tips brought a floral design language to multiple Saucony projects that helped catapult the heritage running brand into the hype world. His time with the label is now over as Tips has taken to Instagram to announce he has signed a new deal with Nike.
In his Instagram post, Jae Tips is seen wearing a Nike Destroyer Jacket in front of Yankee Stadium with his Savior branding and signature alongside a balloon-like Swoosh logo. On the back, his Savior logo is also done in balloon style, with a Swoosh on the end. Tips spoke on this new deal in his Instagram caption, stating “NEW CHAPTER: THIS ONE WAS DESTINY, I DREAMED MANY NIGHTS ABOUT THIS ONE.” You can view the full post and his full caption below.
Exactly what this new deal entails has not been announced by Tips or Nike, but The Swoosh did comment on his Instagram post, “Always family. More soon.” With his footwear collabs at Saucony being some of the most popular releases of the year, we can only imagine what Tips can do with Nike, and there’s almost no doubt that a sneaker will eventually come.
During his time with Saucony, Jae Tips released six different projects, including colorways of the Grid Azura 2000, ProGrid Omni 9, Matrix, ProGrid Triumph 4, Grid Shadow 2, and Jazz 9. In total, 12 different shoes dropped, four Triumph 4s, two Matrixes, two Omni 9s, two Grid Shadow 2s, a Jazz 9, and his original collab, one colorway of the Grid Azura 2000. His last release with the brand was a four-pack of Triumph 4s, dubbed Flowers Grow Uptown.
