Ghana’s Free The Youth is flying to the top of Jordan’s collaborator list. After debuting the brand’s first sneaker collab with Jordan on a friends & family Air Jordan 1 Mid last year, the connection is expanding this year to a retail drop. After getting early previews of the chrome Air Jordan 16 Retro collab, a new set of images from retailer Foot District gives us the clearest look yet at the details of the colorway.
Chrome Collab
The Free The Youth x Air Jordan 16 Retro starts with a silver and black base, with metallic chrome on the toebox and heel, and a black structure supporting the side panel mesh. Beneath the black supports and mesh, an orange base features a large FTY logo in white. Hits of translucent green and orange are added on the heel tab.
Next, like every Air Jordan 16, the pair features a removable sheath covering the lace panel and heel. The sheath is covered in more silver on the top with orange at the back and stars at the closure, with blue on the flipside featuring a flying eagle print that completely shifts the look of the shoe when it's inverted.
