Before there was sneaker beef between Anthony Edwards and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the blueprint for that marketing playbook was written under one brand’s roof with a little friendly competition between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. The ad campaign featuring Bird and Magic going toe-to-toe in pairs of Converse Weapons turned the shoe into the kind of icon that still finds its way back to the One Star catalog.
The latest interpretation of the Weapon comes from frequent Converse collaborator Engineered Garments for a strapped-down version of the low-top silhouette. Taking two classic colorways of the Weapon, a gold, purple, and white Lakers blend, and a black and white two-tone mix, Engineered Garments adds a forefoot strap for a bit of subtle retro energy.
Both colorways are clad in soft premium leather across the upper, with a subtle indentation on the Star side panel logo. Engineered Garments branding is quiet as usual, but is added in small print at the bottom of the tongue label.
The Engineered Garments x Converse Weapon Ox Pack will be released May 1, 2026 through Engineered Garments, Converse, and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $145. For all the latest Converse collab news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
