When you think of skate brands, you don’t think of hiking boots, but Dime isn’t like most skate brands. The crowned jesters of Canadian skateboarding brought us a remix of the Vans Era last month, and this time, the Montreal brand is teaming up with Merrell to bring us two pairs of trail-ready chameleons.

The Dime x Merrell 1TRL Cham Redux SE pack features two pairs of the hiking boot, one in muted Black Seasame and one in Blaze, a bold sunset sherbet blend of orange and pink gradient. As Dime describes it, “Black Sesame for your low-key ‘I quit social media but still scroll in secret’ phase, and Blaze for when you tell yourself you’ve changed but really just got a kinda risky haircut everyone is liking.”

Both colorways start with a black textured sole that creeps up around the upper, but that’s where the similarities stop. The Black Sesame starts with a steel blue grey on the toe and side panels that creeps up into lighter gradients until it is nearly white at the top of the tongue and pulley-style lace system. The Blaze colorway starts with an orange base on the bottom of the upper that transforms like a chameleon to bright pink towards the top of the shoe.

The Dime x Merrell partnership dates back years, with the duo first linking up on the Moab in 2023 and the Moc Speed Streak in 2024. The latest project from the pair comes hot on the heels of skate legend Jerry Hsu landing a recent Thrasher cover skating a pair of Merrell boots… Is the hiking brand the next big thing in skateboarding? Probably not, but there’s definitely something going on there.

The Dime x Merrell 1TRL Cham Redux SE pack will be released September 27, 2025 through Dime in-store and online, with a wider release through select Merrell 1TRL retailers to follow on October 2, 2025. Available in men’s sizing, the price is still TBD. To be the first to find out what left field collab Dime cooks up next, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
