In the Northeast, seafood is a way of life. From Maine lobster to New England clam chowder, and every dish in between, the fishing industry has always supported families throughout the region’s beachside cities and towns. In Rhode Island, clamming is life, and at Civil Skate Shop, the local delicacy serves as inspiration for a new anniversary collab with New Balance Numeric.

Feeling Clammy

The Civil x New Balance Numeric 480 Quahog is a clam in sneaker form, mixing together a tough grey shell with hairy suede, a rainbow of ocean iridescent, and white fishing rope laces. Purple pops on the border of the tongue and the Civil logo on the tongue tag. The insole adds an anthropomorphized clam character standing on a skateboard wearing NBs and a Civil hat.

To debut the shoe, Civil hit the bay and filmed a clamming video complete with a custom-made issue of Clammer Magazine replicating a Thrasher. In addition to a classic release, the shop is throwing a 20th anniversary party that will coincide with the drop, and yes, there will be a raw bar on site.

Civil x New Balance Numeric 480 Quahog Release Details

The Civil x New Balance Numeric 480 Quahog will be released early at the shop’s 20th anniversary party on August 22, 2026. Expect a wider release via select skate shops and New Balance in the coming weeks. For all the latest New Balance collab news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
