If you’re a women’s basketball player, it’s hard to imagine a role model better than A’ja Wilson. Quite possibly the greatest to ever do it, Wilson just won her fourth MVP title and third championship trophy, and beyond that, the Las Vegas Aces superstar has one of the best signature shoes of the year with the Nike A’One. For college hoopers at Nike schools across the country, the new season is starting with a jolt of inspiration thanks to some custom kicks from the queen of the W herself.
The latest women’s college basketball team to surprise its players with a shipment of A’Ones is the Cal Golden Bears, who were treated to pairs of Wilson’s signature shoe in a gold colorway with bright pink and green accents. The toebox and side panels feature a swirling salt water taffy blend of pink and green, while the lace panel, tongue, heel, and midsole are all done in a Golden Bear tan.
As the NCAA hoops season transitions from pre-season to regular-season matchups, schools are opening the mail to find massive packages of new PEs from sneaker sponsors. On the Nike side, Duke showed off some crazy Kobe 5 Protros, LSU and Arkansas have been laced with Ja 3s, and Georgia joined Cal with a fresh pair of A’Ones.
The Nike A’One Cal Basketball PE won’t be available for those of us without a team-issued locker in Berkeley, but don’t worry, there are still plenty of A’One colorways to pick from, not to mention a second A’ja Wilson signature shoe on the horizon.
