Philadelphia sports fans are still reeling from the Eagles' first-round playoff loss to Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers in the friendly confines of South Philly, but as soon as the clock wound down Sunday evening, the entire city switched gears to baseball season, starting the countdown until pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training. With offseason moves still waiting to be done, Phillies fans got a bit of news this week, with star slugger Bryce Harper announcing a new deal with Under Armour.

Harper took to Instagram Tuesday morning to announce the extension of his Under Armour contract, continuing his 15-year partnership with the brand. “Never a doubt,” Harper wrote in the caption of his IG announcement. “After 15 years, I’m proud to continue my partnership with Under Armour. Together we’ve made history, and that doesn’t stop now!”

Under Armour has had a rough start to 2026, with Steph Curry’s sneaker free agency taking all the attention off the brand on the basketball court, despite a new Curry 13 silhouette still on the horizon. Harper’s UA 10-year contract was up this year, and it seemed like the shake-ups on the basketball side might influence Harper to try out other brands just like Steph, but in the end, Bryce took no time to make his decision and sign back up with Under Armour.

Speculation about his deal with UA made the rounds online after someone commented on Harper wearing a pair of Travis Scott Jordans. He replied that he was currently a free agent in the footwear space, but it only took a few days for the two parties to agree.

Baseball doesn’t have the same kind of superstars that it did in the ‘90s when Ken Griffey Jr. was dropping Nike lifestyle shoes and Barry Bonds was the face of Fila, but when it comes to cleats, players like Fernando Tatis and Aaron Judge are bringing Jordan hype to the diamond. Will Bryce’s new UA signature help bring back baseball as a style influence? Probably not, his previous models have (mostly) stayed on the diamond, but you never know.
