The English pro skater Blondey McCoy and adidas have been collaborating since 2019, first working on a set of adidas Superstars that featured a transparent upper. As time has passed, the Three Stripes has given Blondey more freedom, allowing him to design his own silhouette, the Blondie McCoy x adidas A.B. Gazelle Indoor. His brainchild, according to the man himself, is a “…bastard child born of a cantankerous four-way between a Gazelle Indoor, an Indoor Super, a Wensley, and, naturally, a Blondey Superstar.” Now, after the release of the first grey and black colorway, the silhouette gets a mineral blue makeover a mere few weeks after.
To allow the silhouette to be skateboard ready, the indoor football design gets a modern upgrade through the upper’s mineral blue ripstop base and black TPU overlays that are seven times more durable than leather and suede, helping provide strength for your long skate sessions. The famous T-shaped toebox is present, coming in the aforementioned TPU as well as the Three Stripes, eyelets, and heel tab. While your normal adidas branding remains on the heel, Blondey overtakes the adidas text on the midfoot. Rounding out the look is a black rubber midsole borrowed from the adidas Indoor Super, paired with an all-surface traction patterned rubber outsole.
The Blondey McCoy x adidas A.B. Gazelle Indoor Mineral Blu” is set to release on April 20th, 2022 through THAMES MMXX with a wider release set for April 22nd.
