Japan has been a hotbed for New Balance in terms of collaborations with many Japanese-based labels, bringing their unique approach to classic NB designs. One of these collaborators is BEAMS, who has crafted a mismatched pair of New Balance 550s in a Navy hue. Previously, BEAMS collaborated with New Balance on the 327 and New Balance 996 GTX in 2023.
The BEAMS x New Balance 550 Navy distinguishes itself with an all-leather upper. This look creatively employs mismatched navy and blue hues across each panel, offering a visually engaging and distinct appearance. The design's uniqueness is further amplified by the contrasting tongue colors on the left and right shoes, alongside an insole that features the iconic NB logo in BEAMS' signature orange hue. This careful attention to detail and color coordination underlines the collaboration's dedication to both brands' heritage while pushing the boundaries of traditional sneaker design. Rounding out the look is the white midsole with a navy outsole.
The BEAMS x New Balance 550 Navy is available now through a pre-order on BEAMS, followed by a wider release on March 16, 2024, at BEAMS and BEAMS BOY stores as well as online.
