Marvel Fantastic Four x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA

Marvel and DC Comics went head-to-head this summer with the latter enlisting James Gunn to bring Superman back to the silver screen and the former beginning Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an all-new Fantastic Four film. While the winner at the box office was clearly Superman (grossing $615 million worldwide compared to The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ $519 million), the sneaker game has favored Marvel throughout 2025. That will continue with a brand-new project from Japanese streetwear titan BAPE and Marvel’s Fantastic Four.

Not counting the other Marvel franchises, Fantastic Four has appeared in two collabs so far, one with Crocs on a Classic Clog and another with Advisory Board Crystals in a blind box release. However, BAPE’s history with Marvel goes way back to 2005 when the two collaborated on the AF1-adjacent BAPE STA in multiple colorways. Each pair represented iconic Marvel characters and was packaged in plastic akin to action figures. Later, BAPE and Marvel reconnected on the BAPE STA in nine colorways in 2022, six in August, and another three in December.

The Fantastic Four x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA Mr. Fantastic & Invisible Woman

As for 2025’s Marvel x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA collection, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, Human Torch, The Thing, Galactus and Silver Surfer, and Doctor Doom are all immortalized in footwear form. Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman get paired together, as do Galactus and Silver Surfer, but the rest of the characters receive their own colorways. Cartoon depictions of the respective hero or villain are applied to the lateral heel of the left shoe, while Fantastic Four call-outs appear on the metallic silver lace dubrae. The designs are finished with comic book insoles, panels from the original comics, and action figure-style packaging.

Alongside the footwear, BAPE has crafted eight shirts featuring co-branded logos for Fantastic Four and BAPE. One shirt features the four main heroes, while another places Galactus and Silver Surfer front and center. Dr. Doom even gets his own graphic T-shirt.

The Marvel Fantastic Four x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA collection will be released on September 27, 2025, through BAPE online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the footwear is priced at ¥36,300 (approx $245 USD).
