Japanese sneaker boutique atmos continues its collaboration streak with New Balance, this time taking over the New Balance 550. This collaboration follows their previous successful partnership on the 2002R in the Cybernetics Blue colorway, blending atmos's distinctive style again with New Balance's classic design.
atmos’ take on the New Balance 550 sees the sneaker take on a “Back in Black” theme with a sleek, monochromatic design. The upper, predominantly covered in black, features white accents that provide a striking contrast. These white details embellish the pebbled leather "N" logo, the midfoot panel piping, the 550 branding, and the tongue tag, adding a subtle yet impactful visual element. In terms of construction, the sneaker employs smooth leather on key areas such as the mudguard, midfoot, collar, and heel, ensuring durability and a premium feel. The tongue and collar are crafted from mesh, offering breathability and comfort. Additionally, the toebox showcases perforated nubuck. Rounding out the design is a blacked-out midsole and outsole, maintaining the "Back in Black" theme.
The atmos x New Balance 550 Back in Black will release on December 23, 2023, exclusively via atmos Tokyo. A draw is currently available to enter in Japan, with entries closing on the 22nd.
