The Astro Boy x Onitsuka Tiger Collection Releases December 2023

Astro Boy, an iconic Japanese character, has been a muse for various fashion collaborations. This year, in a momentous collaboration, Astro Boy joins forces with Onitsuka Tiger, another celebrated Japanese brand. Onitsuka Tiger is commemorating its 75th birthday in 2024, making this collaboration an extraordinary celebration of their shared heritage as Astro Boy dates to around the same time in the 1950s. This collection follows up on Astro Boy's previous successful collaborations, including one with Reebok and BAIT in 2022 and the Astro Boy-inspired ultra-viral MSCHF Big Red Boot.

The collection features two distinct Onitsuka Tiger silhouettes: the Mexico 66 SD and the Dentigre Puff Boot. The Mexico 66 SD, a classic and beloved model, will be available in three colorways, while the Dentigre Puff Boot is presented in a singular all-red colorway. The Puff Boot and one of the Mexico 66 SD colorways are drenched in vivid red hues, echoing Astro Boy's signature color palette.

The remaining two Mexico 66 SD shoes are rendered in timeless neutral tones, one in sleek black and the other in a versatile grey. Each sneaker in the collection is adorned with Astro Boy branding, creatively integrated into various parts of the upper. The character himself is featured on the insole, paired with Onitsuka Tiger's emblem, creating a unique co-branded aesthetic. Completing the design of each pair is a tonal midsole and outsole, ensuring that the sneakers are as functional as they are visually appealing.

The Astro Boy x Onitsuka Tiger Collection will release on December 12, 2023, through Onitsuka Tiger online and select retailers in-store and online. The Mexico 66 SD is priced at approximately $190, and the Dentigre Puff Boot at about $250.
