Collaborations once were a rarity in the sneaker world, however, today's climate essentially demands them to go down on a regular basis. What was once even more coveted than a simple team-up of two labels, the triple collab is also now more commonplace as brands like Nike have looked to Travis Scott & Fragment as well as Sacai & Undercover to dress silhouettes in triple-branded details. Continuing this, the EU-based retailer BAIT and the Japanese anime Astro Boy are linking up with Reebok once again for a collection of footwear that includes the Instapump Fury Zone and Hurrikaze II.
Starting with the iconic Instapump Fury Zone, the silhouette gets dressed in colors inspired by the anime Astro Boy with stark white shades contrasted by reds and blacks throughout the design. Around the toe sits a metallic silver fused overlay that surrounds the white textile material on the tongue while just above red overlays pierce off the white tongue. Sitting atop this is the “Pump” system in black, featuring intricate glow-in-the-dark details throughout its wavy design. As for the “Pump” button, the typical branding is forgone and instead, Astro Boy’s silhouette sits in the center. Just below this, you’ll find a triple-branded tongue, featuring a Reebok logo, “Astro Boy” written in Japanese, and “BAIT” spelled out in English. Our final hit of branding comes in an identical fashion to the tongue, though the Reebok logo appears down on the sole rather than on the spine of the heel itself. Finishing the entire design is the glow-in-the-dark sole unit with silver accents along the forefoot.
As for the Hurrikaze II, a split design with a black/cream color scheme on the lateral side contrasts the vibrant green (left pair) and red (right pair) featured on the medial side. These aforementioned cream shades land throughout the leather around the toe, midfoot, and heel with perforations appearing on the toebox and collar portions. Branding details remain relatively simple as you can spot a Reebok logo debossed near the toe while the heel features a blacked-out silhouette of Astro Boy. Finishing the design of the upper is the black tongue and lace set while the entire sneaker is finished off by a black rubber outsole featuring accenting hits of red and green on the right and left pair respectively.
The BAIT x Astro Boy x Reebok Collection is set to release on November 18th through BAIT online and in-store while Reebok and select retailers will drop both the Instapump Fury Zone and Hurrikaze II on November 19th. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price for the Instapump is set at $200 while the Hurrikaze II will be priced at $180.
