We’re basically in the summertime now, and with the weather warming up, you can finally put your boots away for some more comfortable footwear options. For Asics, they’ve just cut the Gel-1130 down into a mule, but they also have more traditional choices for your summertime sneaker sandal rotation, like the Gel-Filimy.

Asics Gel-Filimy Details

The Asics Gel-Filimy borrows the tooling from the archival Gel-Nandi silhouette, an outdoor-focused trail shoe that originally released in the year 2000. The Nandi did have a small revival in the early part of the 2020s, but it’s since been put back in the vault. This new model, which first hit shelves in 2025, adds a sandal upper to the Nandi’s sole unit.

Wide-spaced mesh panels provide breathability, while the open construction also allows optimal airflow near the forefoot and heel. Instead of traditional laces, Asics employs a strap system, something you might find on a pair of sandals your dad has lying around ready for a day of yardwork.

Since hitting shelves in three new colorways back in April, the shoe has been highly sought after. Most sizes on Asics’ website are out of stock, and other retailers have also sold out many sizes.
