A’ja Wilson Shares Custom Nike A’One Inspired by Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 1/97

Although A’ja Wilson has a slew of different Nike A’One releases under her belt, some of the best colorways seen thus far have been player-exclusives or customs. The latter of the two options defines the latest pair shared by Wilson on social media, as she just received a custom pair of A’One’s inspired by her favorite Air Max release of all time — Sean Wotherspoon’s Nike Air Max 1/97.

If for some reason you’re unaware of Sean’s iconic Air Max collab, here’s a quick rundown. In 2017, Nike invited 12 creatives as part of the Revolutionairs project, which included Round Two founder Sean Wotherspoon. The public was able to vote for their favorite design out of the dozen, and Sean ended up winning, meaning his shoe would release on Air Max Day 2018 (3/26/2018). Inspired by vintage Nike hats, the corduroy Air Max 97 upper was paired with an Air Max 1 sole unit, becoming an instant classic among sneakerheads and Air Max fans.

Wilson’s love for the coveted Air Max is on full display with this custom A’One. The pearl-inspired upper allows the multi-color wavy appearance of the Air Max 97 to translate well. Outside of the paint job, the pair doesn’t receive any updated branding features and still retains its performance-ready features, like the Cushlon midsole.

Unfortunately for us, the Nike A’One Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 97/1 custom is a 1-of-1 made for A’ja. However, there are plenty of A’One colorways headed our way in the coming months, including new pairs part of the Team Bank Pack (which was partially released yesterday).
