Summertime may be a lull for general sports fans, but the end of the season is when things truly heat up for the NBA. Much of the league is in the midst of preparing for the next season, including the legendary Chris Paul, who just signed a one-year deal to return to the LA Clippers for one last season. In what has become an annual tradition, the Jordan Brand athlete has just debuted his player-exclusive mainline Air Jordan sneaker themed after his Elite Camp.

Over the years, Paul has hosted many of the nation's emerging talent in the sport of basketball, with previous attendees of his youth camps including Nike signature athlete Ja Morant. These camps also allow Paul to showcase his Jordan PEs, like last year when he and others attending the camp wore the Air Jordan 39. This year, the latest entry in the mainline Air Jordan series, the Air Jordan 40, is the star of the show.

Reception to the Air Jordan 40 has been quite positive all-around, a nice change compared to previous iterations, with the debut The Classic colorway selling out instantly. Outside of sales figures, comment sections on social media clearly show that sneakerheads have taken a liking to the design as an off-court sneaker.

CP3’s Air Jordan 40 adds something that actually improves the look of the sneaker even further: a Nike Swoosh. The logo is embroidered in a multi-color floral pattern, a theme found on many of CP3’s PEs, including his AJ39 and his released Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG. The floral pattern continues onto the sockliner and tongue lining, while the rest of the sneaker is done in a light pink nubuck. CP3 branding on the tongue, a gradient purple on the Nike Air heel tab, and a tonal pink and gradient sole unit with ZoomX foam and a Zoom Strobel unit finish the design.
