Michael Jordan may have only laced up the Air Jordan 14 for three games in the NBA Finals, but it’s still one of his most legendary sneakers. You can attribute its lofty status to his final shot as a member of the Chicago Bulls being taken in the sneaker, though it's since become a fan favorite in the series of Air Jordan retros. Following the re-release of the Ferrari colorway last year and a handful of golf versions at the end of 2025, Jordan Brand reached into the vault to bring back the Black University Blue colorway.
In 2006, Jordan Brand was in the midst of retroing Air Jordan sneakers and bringing out brand-new colorways not part of the original run. This Black University Blue looks like it could’ve been on shelves in the late ‘90s, but it was a wholly original colorway for the time. This 2026 retro marks the 20th anniversary of its release, and it will be the first time it has returned since that first drop in ‘06. The sneaker features a black suede upper, with pops of university blue found on the Ferrari-inspired badging on the collar, the neoprene on the heel, and on portions of the sole unit. Final details include a blue Jumpman on the toe, Jordan text on the top of the tongue in blue, and “23” on the heel tab.
In the last few years, Jordan Brand has slowed down its Air Jordan 14 output. There was only one non-golf version of the sneaker released in the previous year, and in 2024, two colorways hit shelves: Flint Grey and the OG Black Toe. Outside of this retro release, Jordan Brand has plans for a handful of Jordan 14s this year, including a collaboration with Mowalola.
The Air Jordan 14 Black University Blue will be released March 21, 2026 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in full-family sizing, the retail price is set at $205 (men), $155 (GS), $95 (PS), and $80 (TD).
