Jordan Channels Space Jam’s Green Screen Filming Process on the Air Jordan 11 Retro Monstars

Michael Jordan didn’t need AI to go to war with monsters on the basketball court and run pick-and-rolls with Bugs Bunny. In the days of old-fashioned animation, Jordan’s Space Jam success mixed traditional animation techniques with live-action acting. On the latest Air Jordan 11 Retro, Jordan Brand is paying tribute to some behind-the-scenes lore from MJ’s acting career.

Monstar Mash

The Air Jordan 11 Retro Monstars is a shoutout to the filming process for the final game scene in Space Jam, where Jordan battles the Monstars with his Looney buds. Using a green screen to surround Mike with the animated alien hoopers, Jordan had to post up players in green screen outfits standing on stools to match the otherworldly size of the Monstars.

Featuring a full foot of green suede, the upcoming Jordan 11 colorway was first announced by @zSneakerHeadz, with a release expected before the end of the year. In addition to the monochrome green screen upper, the colorway adds a glow-in-the-dark sole unit underfoot for some standout contrast.

Air Jordan 11 Retro Monstars Release Details
