Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG Last Dance in the Garden

With a new signature sneaker released every year throughout his playing days, not to mention every year since, Michael Jordan has always been on the cutting edge of the sneaker industry. In 1998, though, with retirement on his mind, Jordan put away his typical pair of 13s, opting for an Air Jordan 1 High for a trip to Manhattan.

The Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG Last Dance in the Garden is finally set to drop this month, following previews of the pair going back to the Knicks’ title run in June. Using the silhouette to reminisce about Jordan’s 1998 trip to MSG, the pair features a white leather base on the toebox and side panels, with a black base on the toe, lace, and heel panels covered in ornate red floral embroidery.

The Bulls-colored pair adds solid black to the Swoosh with a gold border to match the bottom three eyelets, and more gold to the Air Jordan wings logo on the heel. The tongue adds a small tab underneath the bag in blue and orange to give the pair a hint of Knicks energy and bring the vibe back to Jordan’s trip to The Garden in ‘98. On the inside of the tongue, the tag adds the date of MJ’s final game at MSG, 3/8/98, on the right shoe and his stat line, 42 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, on the left. The sneaker's special packaging features a photo of the net inside MSG and a postgame quote from MJ: “It’s Fun to Come Back Here and Play, And the Shoes Are A Part of That.”
