The Air Jordan 1 Low, a silhouette that has long held a special place in the sneaker world, continues to evolve with exciting and innovative iterations. Renowned for its adaptability to different styles and collaborations, this iconic model is once again in the spotlight with a texturally rich makeover. Jordan Brand takes influence from Japanese culture with an upcoming "World Make Japan” colorway and applies vintage features to the model.
Much like the AJKO 1 High sample, Air Max 97, and Nike AF1 that brought sashiko to models under The Swoosh’s banner, this Air Jordan 1 Low World Make Japan features distressed denim overlays. These appear on the mudguard, eyestays, and heel, each intricately adorned with sashiko patterns. The raw edges of these overlays spill over onto a corduroy base layer on the toebox, quarter panel, and collar, adding depth and contrast. Sail laces enhance the vintage vibes, contrasting elegantly with the white tongue, which sports a Jumpman denim patch. Exposed foam edges on the tongue add a rustic and DIY aesthetic, complementing the tan sockliner. The black leather Swoosh at midfoot then offers a break from the dominant fabric choice. Rounding out the design is an ultra-aged midsole, featuring a brushstroke-like finish, paired with a black outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 Low World Make Japan will release September 9, 2023 in the EU through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $125.
