Vintage has been all the rage in fashion as of late and not just in the world of apparel. Brands from across the footwear industry have introduced the world to pre-worn and distressed renditions of their sneakers a la the Balenciaga x adidas Stan Smith or Maison Margiela x Reebok TZ Pump Deadstock Pack, though others have given us sneakers that come in their OG shape. Much like the Forum 84 or Dunk 85, adidas is giving us a blast from the past with a recreation of the Stan Smith silhouette from the 80s.
Featured in its iconic “White Green” colorway, the adidas Stan Smith 80s comes in a shape identical to that of a pair of Stan Smiths from the 80s and features a rich leather upper. Along the tongue, midfoot, and collar sits white leather while green accents appear on the Trefoil-branded heel tab and via the graphic of Stan Smith atop the tongue. Speaking of the tongue, this area (including the laces) comes in white while the plastic eyestays hosting the laces continue this color. Details like the tonal stitching and perforated Three Stripes branding remain while the sockliner and in-sole get constructed out of leather and mesh respectively. Rounding out the design is the cream-colored rubber midsole and outsole combo.
The adidas Stan Smith 80s White Green is set to release on November 18th, 2022 through adidas.com and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
