Donovan Mitchell's partnership with adidas has been a remarkable journey, marked by the successful launch of five signature sneakers in the adidas D.O.N. Issue series. Mitchell’s signature sneakers, known for their innovative design and performance features, have captured the attention of basketball players and sneakerheads alike. Following the debut of the D.O.N. Issue 5 in the summer of 2023, which so far has launched in a handful of colorways like the Asian-exclusive Year of the Dragon, the sneaker world is now eagerly anticipating the next iteration in the lineup: the adidas D.O.N. Issue 6.
The adidas D.O.N. Issue 6 represents a continued evolution in the series, as indicated by early looks at the sneaker. While these initial images may not represent the final version of the shoe, like how we saw early looks at the Harden Vol. 9, they provide a glimpse into the direction adidas is taking with this model. The sneaker's internals remain consistent with previous models, featuring an internal heel counter for secure foot placement. A notable change in Mitchell's latest sneaker is its upper design. Unlike the Issue 5, which featured multiple layers of paneling, the Issue 6 opts for a streamlined approach with a single mesh base. This mesh base discreetly conceals the iconic Three Stripes branding on the midfoot, offering a sleek and modern aesthetic.
Durability is enhanced with rubberized portions near the toe and reinforcements along the eyestays. Carbon fiber elements in the midfoot area add both stability and durability. The sneaker's performance capabilities are bolstered by a Lightstrike Pro-cushioned foam midsole, providing responsive cushioning, and a rubber outsole featuring a circular traction pattern for superior grip on the court.
