In 2021, James Whitner and his A Ma Maniere label debuted their first collaboration with Jordan Brand, a women's exclusive colorway of the Air Jordan 3 Retro. This pair is now one of the most coveted and popular releases in recent years, garnering high resale prices for the bigger sizes. Now we are getting two Air Jordan 5 Retros from A Ma Maniere. Up to this point, AMM has dropped an Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, Air Jordan 2 Retro, Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 4 Retro, and an Air Jordan 12 Retros.
Fresh for Holiday 2023 will be the A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 5 Retro. Originally set to come in two men's colorways, "Black" and "Light Bone," the latter of the two has been scrapped for an all-new women's "Photon Dust" pair (also known as Dawn). Both pairs will play the opposite game to one another, similar to how AMM designed their AJ 12 Pack. With the A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 12 Retro, the men's "Black" pair featured a suede-based upper, while the women's "White" pair came in leather. For this AJ 5 Pack, we will see the same thing, the men's pair with a suede upper and the women's in leather.
The A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 5 Retro SP Dusk comes in black, burgundy crush, and pale ivory for men. As stated above, the pair will feature a black-based suede upper with burgundy crush accenting the shark teeth on the midsole and the inside tongue lining. An aged look is present via the mesh netting on the sides and the translucent hits on the outsole. For the netting, we see A Ma Maniere's "A" logo used for the plastic material. Further branding for the retailer is found on the Air unit. Other notable changes include a thinner sockliner similar to Virgil Abloh's take on the AJ5.
The women's A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 5 Retro SP Dawn comes in photon dust, black, diffused blue, and pale ivory. Sporting a photon dust leather-based upper with diffused blue found on the shark teeth, branding on the tongue and back heel, and lining. Black accents the midsole, while aged details on the translucent parts of the outsole and the mesh netting on the sides finish things off.
Fpllowing a Nike SNKRS release on November 27, the A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 5 Retro SP in the "Dawn" colorway will be restocking on A Ma Maniere's website on December 15 at 11 AM ET/8 AM PT. Prior to this, the Dawn colorway was released via The Whitaker Group storefronts on November 17, 2023. On November 24, 2023, the "Dusk" colorway was released via A Ma Maniere and other TWG storefronts. The "Dusk" pair retails for $225 in men's sizing while the "Dawn" pair will come in extended women's sizing, preschool, and toddler. Retail for those pairs is set at $225, $100, and $85, respectively.
