In the early days of Pokémon, before there were countless card series and endless video games, there were only 151 Pokémon, and Mewtwo was number 150, one of the rarest and the star of the first Pokémon movie. Now, Mewtwo is back in the spotlight for a new addition to the Pokémon x Puma sneaker collection, influencing an electric grey Suede.
The Pokémon x Puma Suede Mewtwo features a monochrome upper in grey suede broken up by lightning bolts emanating from the side and heel panels, creating an all-over print electricity effect. The Puma side logo stripe is a darker grey tone, and a clear outsole reveals Mewtwo’s name spelled out in Japanese underfoot. More branding is featured on the tongue tag with Mewtwo’s face, the crystal ball graphic on the heel counter, and a Mewtwo face hangtag that comes with every pair. Additionally, the shoes are packaged in a special Mewtwo-themed box.
In a sneaker industry that loves licensing, Pokémon has been a frequent partner for brands looking to tap into late 90s nostalgia. Puma dropped its first trainer collab in 2022 with a pack that included a Squirttle Suede, and since then, the pocket monsters have been featured in a collection of Clarks and a handful of Crocs collabs.
The Pokémon x Puma Suede Mewtwo will be released October 25, 2025 exclusively at Puma’s Las Vegas flagship store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $300. For all the latest pop culture sneaker collab news and release info, swing over to the Sole Retriever mobile app.
