One Love: adidas Taps Bob Marley’s Legacy for new Evo SL Colorway

Reggae legend Bob Marley may be best known in the US as a staple of dorm room posters and stoner culture, but globally, Marley is one of the world’s most famous and accomplished musicians, bringing his message of love and positivity combined with political and historical messages of freedom and political liberation. Marley’s image has been repurposed in every way imaginable, and in sneakers, the musician’s love for soccer has come out in multiple adidas collabs. Now, Marley’s estate is teaming back up with The Three Stripes for a new take on Bob’s legacy.

The Bob Marley x adidas Adizero Evo SL combines the colors of the Rastafarian flag across the upper, starting with a base of yellow on the lightweight mesh upper, then adding red, black, and green to the Three Stripes on the side panels. Marley’s portrait is added to the tongue stabilizer logo, along with the quote “Football is Freedom,” another tie to Marley’s love for the game of soccer.

On the insoles, more graphic art is added in yellow, red, black, and green, with ADIZERO branding added to the footbed. The tongue adds more black to the colorway and the lace ends switch between red and green to continue the flag motif. Expect to see another Bob Marley x adidas sneaker in the coming weeks, with Marley’s estate working on an adidas Gazelle colorway that will be revealed soon.
