We’re about to enter the Upside Down. Well, not in a literal sense as most of us aren’t part of the cast for Stranger Things, but one of Netflix’s biggest shows is in the midst of its final season. If you thought in years prior the company went all out for Hawkins, think again. Season 5 is being supported by dozens of different collaborations across fashion, footwear, sports drinks, video games, and more. We already got wind of Nike’s overarching collection for Stranger Things season 5, and recently had a chance at copping the Stranger Things x Nike Dunk Low, but The Swoosh has officially unveiled the rest of its sneakers coinciding with the final adventure in Hawkins, Indiana.
While Sole Retriever previously reported on just the Nike side of the footwear, the company officially announced two other sneakers as part of the project with Converse. This includes the Converse Weapon and the Converse Chuck 70, the latter themed after Hawkins radio station WSQK. The station’s logo, “Beam Me Up, This Place Sucks” graphics nodding to Robin’s T-shirt, a Hawkins Hawk lace jewel, Demogorgon star on the Chuck patch, and a rubber chicken keychain all tie in with the series. For the Weapon, we see a vintage take on an original 1984 colorway of the sneaker. Premium leather uppers feature distressed underlays, while custom Stranger Things details include newspaper graphic lining, sound wave-inspired perforations on the toe, and Vecna and the Mind Flayer graphics on the sockliner.
As for the Nike Sportswear portion of the collection, there are three silhouettes worn by characters in the final season. This includes Steve’s Air Max 1, Eleven’s Field General High, and Erica Sinclair’s LD-1000. At first glance, the sneakers don’t scream “Stranger Things,” but the upside-down Nike branding and co-branded insoles give it away. Interesting to note as well that this is the first time Nike has made the Field General into a high-top, and it looks like it might be the only one for the foreseeable future.
