The current generation of sneakerheads may only have memories of Wale stuntin on everyone online as the face of the upcoming Nike GT Future, but his history with The Swoosh goes back to the mid-2000s. Besides his connection to the Foamposite being strong as a DMV native, he took part in an LRG photoshoot where he subtly debuted the Eggplant Nike Air Foamposite. He also dropped a song declaring his love of the Nike ACG Air Max Goadome, the aptly named “Nike Boots,” in 2007. Now, only two days from the release of his next album, everything is a lot, Wale has just revealed the feature list for the project alongside teasers of an official Nike ACG Air Max Goadome collab.
In the video, rapper Smino is boxing up pairs of the sneaker in a warehouse, placing stickers on the lid with the name of each artist featured on Wale’s next album. Boxes are prepped for producer BYNX, singer Leon Thomas (shoutout Victorious), Ty Dolla $ign, Shaboozey, Nino Paid, ODUMODUBLVCK, Odeal, Andra Day, Teni the Entertainer, and Seyi Vibez. In between shots of the packing we get a few glimpses at the boot. The entire upper is coated in a black finish with faux crocskin details. A small blue tag with “EIA,” a clear shoutout to the album’s title, is added near the collar, matching the blue Swoosh. Wale branding is found on the heel tab. A classic black midsole with Air Max cushioning finishes the design.
As mentioned above, Wale has a long-standing connection to Nike, and this is just another stamp of approval from Beaverton. Last year, Wale starred in the campaign for the Nike Air Foamposite Cherry Blossom, a love letter to the DMV area. DC, Maryland, and Virginia carry much pride when it comes to popularizing the Foamposite and Nike Boots, much to the dismay of other regions like NYC. Wale only continues to cement the legacy of this model and the Foamposite as certified DMV classics. It’s looking like the same will be said for the GT Future when that releases.
Wale’s Nike ACG Air Max Goadome boot has no confirmed release, but it’s possible that a few pairs are sold or given away as promo for his new album.
