Verdy, the creative force behind the popular streetwear brand Girls Don't Cry, has been pivotal in blending street culture and high fashion. His collaborations, particularly his SB Dunk Low with Nike SB, have been sought after due to their ultra-limited availability. Following the success of his previous Nike SB Dunk Low collaborations, which included a Red colorway and a highly exclusive grey friends and family edition, Verdy is back with a new project for 2024. This time, he draws inspiration from his creation, Visty, a plush animal character that first captured hearts in 2021.
This upcoming SB Dunk Low, inspired by Visty, features faux fur panels in soft pastel colors reminiscent of the beloved Three Bears Pack and Grateful Dead Pack, with a nod to Verdy's character's tactile, playful nature. Using textured suede on the mudguard, eyestays, and heel adds depth and contrast to the overall design. Below sits faux fur in green on the toebox, tongue, and midfoot panel, while the heel and collar feature pink fur. More pink comes in branding details, including the Swoosh on the midfoot and the tongue tag that hosts co-branding between Nike SB and Verdy. An aged yellow midsole adds a vintage touch, while the green rubber outsole mirrors the faux fur's pastel hues, completing the design.
The Verdy x Nike SB Dunk Low Visty will release Summer 2024 through Nike SB-affiliated retailers and potentially Nike SNKRS and Girls Don’t Cry online. Coming in men's, preschool, and toddler sizing, retail is set at $135, $90, and $75.
