Vans is Bringing Back the Super Lowpro with Balletcore Vibes

Skateboarding gets a lot of cross-sport and cross-hobby comparisons. You’ll hear everyone from golfers and runners to painters and birdwatchers talk about how their chosen after-work activity is just like skating - it’s about style, rejecting competition, meticulous repetition, embracing whimsy, and documenting the process. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn’t, but one activity stands out as a pretty close match - dancing. Just like skateboarding, dancing is about fluidity, motion, and art - with plenty of competition and serious work, but even more free-form fun.

Ballet Vans

At Vans, the originators of the skate shoe are embracing the two-step and pliés with a new collection of the retro Super Lowpro reimagined in two new remixes with balletcore vibes. Embracing the low-profile sneaker trend, the Super Lowpro is the latest 1980s retro silhouette to undergo a modern refresh. Vans brought the silhouette back in its classic form last year, and now, the shoe is remade with even more new energy.

The Vans Super Lowpro Trainer features an '80s runner vibe, with laces that loop through the bottom of the shoe for some wraparound dance-shoe energy. The Super Lowpro Ballet Light leans into the dance shoe vibes even heavier, with a slipper-style nylon construction with suede on the toe, heel, and around the laces.
