The ape is headed to Amsterdam. Ditching the smoke-filled coffee shops and the red light district, the Japanese streetwear legends at BAPE are getting artistic, teaming up with the Van Gogh Museum for two new pairs of BAPE STAs in instantly recognizable floral oil painting camo print.
Vincent’s New BAPEs
The Van Gogh Museum x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA Pack features two pairs of all-over print camo colorways covered in Van Gogh art: one in blue with blooming trees and blue camo, and another in yellow with sunflower graphics on one shoe and yellow BAPE camo on the other. On both pairs, Van Gogh Museum co-branding is added to the lateral and medial heels.
Both pairs split the collab from shoe to shoe, with Van Gogh’s floral oil paintings on the right shoe of the yellow pair and the left shoe of the blue pair. The opposite shoe in each pair features classic BAPE ABC Camo print in a matching color, with more Van Gogh graphics on the laces and star logo. Inspiration for the blue colorway comes from Van Gogh’s Almond Blossom series, while the yellow is meant to represent the artist’s legendary Sunflowers series.
Alongside the sneakers, BAPE is also tapping BE@RBRICK for two figures. The two figures come in 400% and 100% variants, with the color schemes matching the sneakers.
