United Arrows, the renowned Japanese retailer, continues its storied partnership with New Balance, showcasing a legacy of collaborative excellence. December 2023 marks another milestone in this alliance with the release of the United Arrows x New Balance 996 GTX, a special edition celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the iconic 996 model. This release follows in the footsteps of fellow Japanese outlet BEAMS and their New Balance 996 GTX.
The United Arrows x New Balance 996 GTX keeps things simple with a monochrome black appearance. It features dark black suede overlays, providing a sleek and sophisticated look. The rest of the upper is elegantly contrasted with light black mesh on the toe and collar, adding depth and texture to the design. New Balance branding maintains its traditional placement on the tongue and midfoot, while adding a Gore-Tex tag near the collar signifies the shoe's weather-resistant capabilities.
In a nod to minimalism, United Arrows opts out of overt branding, instead allowing the design and material choices to speak for themselves. Additional Gore-Tex branding on the insole further accentuates the shoe's quality and functionality. Everything is completed with a blacked-out midsole and outsole, reinforcing the monochromatic theme.
The United Arrows x New Balance 996 GTX is available for pre-order via United Arrows online and will ship in late December 2023.
