The United Arrows x New Balance partnership has been ongoing for several years, producing some of the most well-crafted sneakers in recent memory. While many think of their vibrantly colored pairs in the past, some more stealthy options have come from the duo, and their latest project takes this understated design element to the max. Working on the iconic New Balance 990v3 Made In USA, a clean “Grey” color scheme is applied.
The sneaker features premium materials, including pigskin suede and perforated leather overlays atop a mesh base layer. The midfoot is adorned with a reflective "N" logo, while the tongue and heel feature the iconic Made In USA branding. The upper itself is covered in various dark tones, including greys and blacks. Minor hits of color appear on the New Balance branding atop the tongue, while we see a custom graphic with the text “Heritage Version” appearing on the insole. Although this is in collaboration with Japanese retailer United Arrows, the model lacks any branding from the label. Rounding out the look is a two-tone white and black ENCAP-cushioned midsole and a black rubber outsole.
The United Arrows x New Balance 990v3 Made In USA Grey is available exclusively for pre-order through United Arrows online. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $250. The shoes are expected to ship in June 2023 and may have a minor release once pairs begin to land in the summertime.
