It’s September, so you know what that means. New iPhones. Every year as summer gives way to fall, Apple unveils its next lineup of mobile phones, and it’s often a star-studded event. Stars of the tech world like Marques Brownlee or iJustine are always at these things but for the iPhone 17, Apple hosted some of the biggest celebrities on the planet, making MrBeast and Travis Scott their newest salesmen. To commemorate the occasion, La Flame was spotted at the event in an ultra-rare Apple sneaker with an interesting backstory.

Apple is, of course, a tech company, but it has taken a stab at fashion before. In the mid-80s, Apple accessories and clothing were released to the public, ranging from T-shirts to hoodies and more. However, the Cali-based company wouldn’t venture into sneakers until the ‘90s when it tasked the company Omega Sports to produce pairs for its employees. The pairs were never available to the public, and since the low-key release, they’ve garnered tens of thousands of dollars on the aftermarket. In 2023, a pair sold for $50,000 at Sotheby’s.

The sneaker itself is reminiscent of popular ‘80s and ‘90s trainers, like the Reebok Workout Plus or Club C. Apple text in the company’s old-school font is applied to the midfoot in red. Obviously, with the sneaker being decades old, the leather upper has begun to crack and glue stains have oxidized, giving it a worn-in look, even if this is Scott’s first time rocking the pair.

All we can do is appreciate the vintage sneaker, as there are no plans for an Apple sneaker retro. However, if you’re looking to cop something from Travis in the near future, his latest collaboration with fragment design and Jordan Brand, the Travis Scott x fragment design x Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG Sail Military Blue, launches later this month.
