Last year saw quite a few limited collabs and capsules released across all brands. From triple collabs between Travis Scott, fragment design and Nike, as well as Yeezy continuing their innovation with new models, these were insanely limited and garnered major resale prices. We sometimes forget that sneaker brands' bread and butter are their GR releases. For 2021, the top seller has changed from the year prior with the Nike Air Max 270 overtaking the Nike Air Force 1 Low.
Now that we are in a new year, data has been published by Matt Powell of NPD Sports showcasing the top 10 selling silhouettes of 2021. This dataset is taken from points of sale via retailers, excluding direct-to-consumer efforts like the Nike SNKRs app and adidas Confirmed. The list of top sellers is dominated by Nike Sportswear and Jordan brand, taking eight of the top ten spots for 2021. adidas’ only entry on the list is surprisingly limited to the adidas NMD R1 with no Yeezy’s sneaking into the top 10 like in 2020. For Jordan Brand, their lone entry was the controversial Air Jordan 1 Mid, loved by the general public but frequently hated by the sneakerhead community.
