StockX Introduces Mystery Boxes for Adventurous Sneaker Buyers

StockX has been busy this year. The sneaker resale platform that turned the secondary shoe market into a global phenomenon has been expanding its services to match the current moment. Starting with live auctions and a re-established retail footprint, the brand pushed even further last month, offering a new section for curated used sneakers and vintage clothing. Now, StockX is adding another new product sector to the platform for the sneakerhead who’s not afraid of a little gamble.

Roll the Dice

StockX Mystery Boxes are the latest new feature from the Detroit-based resale giant, offering a variety of price-tiered blind boxes filled with sneakers, apparel, accessories, or collectibles, with themed packs at different price points. All products put in the mystery boxes are price-matched to exceed the purchase value based on real-time StockX sales data, with the same authenticity guarantee as traditional StockX purchases.

“Our platform was built on the idea that more information creates more trust, and StockX Mystery Boxes are no different,” said StockX CEO Greg Schwartz. “As we designed the product, we didn’t want to prioritize excitement at the cost of clarity. We know that when customers trust the value, they get more from the experience, so we’re giving them surprise-based commerce without the typical tradeoffs found in the category.”
