With two decades under its belt, SSENSE has firmly established itself as a dominant force in the global fashion realm, drawing customers with its curated selection of high-end designer wear. As the Canadian retailer celebrates its 20th anniversary, it's taking the occasion up a notch with the SSENSE XX, a series of 20 stellar collaborations encapsulating the brand's legacy. Nestled within this lineup is an anticipated partnership with New Balance, spotlighting the increasingly sought-after 1906R silhouette, fresh off the heels of the notable Auralee collaboration.
SSENSE’s reimagination of the New Balance 1906R crafts a visual narrative using its palette, similar to Action Bronson’s mixture of earth tones and vibrant hues. At its core, the shoe flaunts a cream mesh foundation offset with metallic silver overlays punctuated with brown nuances in the detailing. New Balance's signature "N" on the midfoot is tastefully outlined in brown, harmoniously blending with the tones on the mudguard, laces, and plush sockliner. A complimentary cream lace option offers an alternative styling choice. The sneaker remains minimalist, skipping overt SSENSE branding, though co-branding may be on the packaging. Grounding the design, the newly adapted 1906R foam midsole, borrowed from the heralded 860v2, stands out in a striking volt green juxtaposed against a dual-tone brown and volt green outsole.
The SSENSE x New Balance 1906R will release October 24, 2023, exclusively through SSENSE. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
