Spider-Man, the iconic web-slinging superhero, has consistently managed to weave his magic not just in the realm of movies and comics but also in the sneaker culture. Following the enormous success of the PlayStation-exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) and its Miles Morales edition in 2020, fans eagerly await another PlayStation-exclusive game that stars Miles Morales and Peter Parker — Spider-Man 2 (2023). As the gaming and sneaker worlds often collide, adidas has decided to roll out a fitting tribute to coincide with the game's launch, extending its relationship with the Marvel and the Spider-Man franchise.
Though we’ve seen Jordan Brand pay tribute to Spider-Man in recent years, adidas released a Superstar in tandem with the Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game in 2020.
The upcoming Spider-Man 2 x adidas Ultra 4D blends the superhero's legacy and adidas' innovative design ethos. The sneaker's design draws inspiration from Spider-Man and his nemesis, Venom, combining elements that represent both characters. Spider-Man's signature blue finds its place on the TPU reinforcement on the mudguard. In contrast, dark tendrils reminiscent of Venom wrap around the edge of the upper and the intricate 3D-printed sole. A vibrant red Primeknit, evocative of Spider-Man's suit, dominates the upper, with the iconic spider logo and suit-like webbing gracing the tongue. All of this sits atop a stealthy black 4D midsole and rubber outsole, balancing out the vibrant upper.
Alongside the sneaker, adidas plans to release a Techfit outfit with Baselayer Leggings and a Compression Top, which JuJu Smith-Schuster previewed in promotional material for the collection.
The Spider-Man 2 x adidas Ultra 4D has already been released via Tillys online and select PlayStation Plus members will receive an email from PlayStation soon with details on how to sign-up for adidas adiClub for the opportunity to purchase a pair of the Ultra 4D Advanced sneakers before anyone else. The global release of the Spider-Man 2 x adidas Ultra 4D is slated for October 20th. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is tagged at $220. Pricing for the clothing has yet to be announced.
