Song For the Mute's adidas SFTM-008 is Inspired by Gym Class
Even though Song For the Mute and adidas have only been collaborating for three short years, the Australian menswear label has already crafted some of the most memorable Three Stripes sneakers in recent memory. And for its eighth drop – fittingly titled the Song For the Mute x adidas SFTM-008 – it might just be their best work yet.
As with all of Song For the Mute's adidas creations, this collection draws from the German sportswear giant's rich archive. The SFTM-001, for instance, nodded to the Shadowturf, while the SFTM-004 paid homage to the Adistar Cushion. This time around, the SFTM-008 takes cues from the retro Tokyo silhouette, reimagining it through SFTM's signature, subversive lens. Available in three colorways, including Black, Grey, and Blue, the collection channels the kind of gym shoes you might've worn back in high school, but with a distinct, fashion-forward twist.

While the Black and Blue are dripped out in traditional mesh, the Grey is crafted from a crinkled nylon that shifts appearance depending on the angle, giving it a dynamic, lived-in feel. Elasticated collars make for an easy slip-on fit, while the lacing system, toebox, and iconic Three Stripes are wrapped in textured suede for an elevated finish. Branding is characteristically understated: a lateral-side tag reads “SFTM-0088,” while the medial features a minimal Trefoil logo. All of this sits atop the Tokyo’s ultra-flat midsole – a sole unit that's remained largely unchanged since its debut in the mid-'60s.
Details around the Song For the Mute x adidas SFTM-008 collection are still under wraps, but with the pairs having debuted on the runway during Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026, a release around that season is expected.
