Nike's strategic partnerships have a history of creating ripples in the sneaker community. One such collaboration is with Social Status, The Whitaker Group's distinguished boutique. With Nike's 2023 reintroduction of John McEnroe's legendary sneaker, the Nike Mac Attack, Social Status has been front and center. The previous collaborations last year, including the Silver Linings, Social Currency, and Split Vision, have carved a niche, with the Cobblestone Off Noir pair eagerly anticipated by fans. As the calendar pages turn, we're introduced to another entrant: the White Pine Green. Notably, Social Status's numerous iterations outnumbered Nike's inline colorways for the Mac Attack in 2023.
This upcoming iteration of the Mac Attack, the Status Symbol, showcases a harmonious blend of summit white, pine green, and black. The shoe's overlays are adorned with cracked suede in summit white, contrasting beautifully with the nylon-finished white Swoosh and white mesh base. This nylon texture extends to the heel and collar, hinting at a cut-away feature revealing a deeper pine green hue beneath. The tongue brandishes a unique touch with asymmetrical branding, featuring both Social Status and Nike labels, distinguished by a vibrant green hue. Grounding the sneaker is the signature Mac Attack midsole, given an aged look, complemented by a robust black rubber outsole. True to the theme, the shoe's packaging retains the bodega-inspired touch seen in earlier releases from the series.
The Social Status x Nike Attack Status Symbol originally loaded onto Nike SNKRS and was set to release on November 17, 2023. However, this release never occurred. European retailers have slowly released the pair over the last few months, with Nike, SNKRS, The Whitaker Group, and select retailers in the US releasing the colorway on March 8, 2024. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
