Korean streetwear brand Slow Steady Club is set to release the next iterations of the New Balance HOTEL990 Collection that began in 2017. Previous releases have covered all 99X up to the 990v4, all of which drew inspiration from a fictional hotel. Up next in the capsule is a duo of Slow Steady Club x New Balance 990v5’s in "Brown" and "Paper."
In Slow Steady Club's mind, the "Brown" 990v5 is a way to commemorate the end of the HOTEL990 series. The elevated construction New Balance is known for is present with the grey mesh base accented by shades of brown making up suede and leather overlays. A set of tonal-brown laces work up towards a 990v5 branded tongue tag, complete with an American flag and all. Standard New Balance N logos appear on the midfoot with cream piping providing pop to the earth-tone look. Slow Steady Club makes an appearance on the heel overlay with their branding sitting beside the stamped 990. Rounding out the look is a white ENCAP cushioned midsole paired with a brown rubber outsole.
The collection is finished off with the “Paper” NB 990v5. With the brown pair finishing the capsule, this all-white look is marking a new beginning for Slow Steady Club. Various shades of whites and creams make up the mesh, leather, and suede materials placed around the silhouette. You’ll find the same branding placements and details that are found on the brown pair. Finishing this look is a white midsole set to a cream-colored outsole.
The Slow Steady Club x New Balance 990v5 in "Brown" and "Paper" are set to release on March 25th, 2022 through New Balance Korea and Slow Steady Club in-store and online. So far, no word has come out on if this collab will see a worldwide release. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at ₩259,000 (approx $210 USD).
