Salehe Bembury has catapulted to the top of sneaker design in the last few years, being lucky to work for some of fashion's greatest minds through the likes of Versace and Yeezy. Now the Spunge founder is continuing his work with New Balance, showcasing the upcoming Salehe Bembury x New Balance 990v2 on his Instagram.
Taking elements from his previous New Balance designs, the upper utilizes a mixture of hairy suede overlays and sandwich mesh on the underlays throughout. From heel to toe, the overlays come in a tan beige shade, accented by both the salmon-colored mesh on the toe and collar, as well as silver and purple overlays along the toebox. A tonal set of salmon laces work up the tongue towards the purple 990 branding above. Along the midfoot, the New Balance N logo is covered in purple, taking on a terry cloth-like material. Just below the collar sits a signature design motif of Bembury and New Balance collabs, a tag with the designer's name written in black text. Underfoot, the Abzorb cushioned midsole comes in a shade of salmon slightly off from the upper’s mesh and comes complete with a purple rubber outsole.
The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 990v2 Sand Be The Time is set to release on December 8th, 2022 through beaspunge.com while New Balance and select retailers will hold a release on December 22nd.
