Salehe Bembury has worked his way from designing for Kanye on his Yeezy Season line to becoming the VP of Sneakers and Men's Footwear over at Versace. Alongside these prestigious positions he found himself in, Salehe has had the pleasure of being one of New Balance's hottest collaborators. With his “Water Be The Guide” Collection behind him, Bembury introduced us to the New Balance 574 Yurt in multiple colorways as well as an apparel collection last fall. Now we’re approaching the launch of the second Yurt apparel collection and a restock on two colorways of the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 574 Yurt.
Inspired by his love of the great outdoors and hiking, the 574’s original trail running design gets upgraded with elements from multiple New Balance silhouettes including the 990v3. Coming dressed in a Shark Skin/White combo and a Forest Green/Burgundy look, the upper of the silhouette combines a thick hairy suede with sandwich mesh to create a rugged outdoor sneaker. Around the mesh toebox, leather overlays reinforce the upper and the suede mudguard which wraps around to meet the midfoot panel and eyelets.
Running up through the eyelets are the flat laces, contrasting the mesh tongue with New Balance Yurt branding on the tongue tag up top. Sitting atop the midfoot panel is the New Balance N branding with a Salehe Bembury tag located nearby on the lateral side. The most eye-catching and unique detail on the silhouette is located on the heel with a functioning whistle protruding off the heel counter. Rounding out the look is a redesigned chunky Abzorb cushioned midsole paired to a trail-ready rubber outsole.
The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 574 Yurt in Shark Skin as well as Forest Green are slated to restock on March 10th, 2022 through END Clothing and select retailers. Coming in men's sizing, the suggested retail price is $150 though END Clothing has them listed for $190 after conversion.
