At this point, if you’re even remotely interested in sneakers or streetwear you likely have heard the name Salehe Bembury. The footwear designer has risen to prominence in the industry and gained valuable experience working for the likes of Yeezy and Versace, leading to his current collaborations with companies like Vans, New Balance, and Crocs. His most sought-after design comes from the latter of the three mentioned companies, Crocs, with the Pollex Clog that has appeared in numerous colorways since its first release back at the end of 2021. Now, fresh off the “Tide” iterations launch, Bembury took to Instagram to reveal his next colorway, coming in “Kuwata.”
Like all previous Salehe Bembury x Crocs Pollex Clog releases, this “Kuwata” colorway comes constructed out of a one-piece EVA foam resembling three of Bembury’s fingerprints - a design motif used in all of his work. A monochromatic shade of red covers the slip-on footwear from head to toe with portions along the toe and outsole featuring a deeper-hued rubber, placed in high-traction areas to help with wear-and-tear. Ventilation holes help form the Pollex Siphoning system, aiding breathability and allowing for wear in/around the water while the removable canvas strap on the heel can help you turn sport mode on or off at your choosing. For branding, both Bembury and Crocs make an appearance on the aforementioned strap and atop the textured footbed. Rounding out the design is the foam outsole that continues the monochromatic shade (sans the rubber portion).
The Salehe Bembury x Crocs Pollex Clog Kuwata is set to release on October 22nd, 2022 through beaspunge.com with a wider launch through Crocs via live raffle on October 27th, and select retailers following on October 31st.
