Growing up in New York, a young Ronnie Fieg would cement his status as a loyal New York Knicks fan at a young age when his father gifted him a Knicks t-shirt that still inspires him to this day. Throughout his career in the fashion world as the founder of legendary NYC-based label and boutique Kith, Fieg’s work has encompassed much more than just sneaker or streetwear brands, linking up with companies like Coca-Cola, BMW, HBO, and now an official long-standing partnership with his hometown team. After releasing collections that included co-branded Knicks gear (as well as helping design the team's City Edition jerseys in the last few years), Fieg has just been appointed Creative Director of the New York Knicks.
This role has been created specifically for Fieg, and in an interview with SLAM Magazine the Kith founder stated “I think they saw the passion I have for the team, and they wanted to take what we were doing together to the next level.” Helping kick off this new hiring, the Knicks are set to debut a redesigned hardwood floor and their 2022-2023 City Edition jerseys during “Kith Night” that has that special Ronnie Fieg twist we all know and love. On top of this, a 2022 Kith for Knicks collection is underway that will see the label elevate your typical sports gear into the realm of luxury fashion.
As for the Knicks themselves, they seem just as enthusiastic as Fieg is to step into this role with the President and COO of MSG Sports David Hopkinson stating to SLAM Magazine, “When Ronnie created his first Knicks City Edition uniform during the 2020-21 season, the organization knew we had something special, and each year’s design has been more innovative than the last. We are honored to have him join the Knicks as Creative Director.”
