Ronnie Fieg Teases a Kith x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 for Kith Chicago Grand Opening

While brick-and-mortar retail has been on the decline since the advent of Amazon Prime and Shopify, Ronnie Fieg’s Kith empire has only continued to expand its IRL presence. Just last year, Kith opened up one new storefront in Malibu and another in Seoul, while soft-launching its Dallas location just last month. There’s more in-store Kith shopping heading to the US, with the Chicago location set to open in October. To commemorate the store opening, Ronnie Fieg has crafted a new Asics Gel-Kayano 14 project.

Kith Japan’s regional director, Junya Matano, posted a video of Ronnie unboxing the pair over the weekend. In the clip, Fieg explains that the sneaker comes in a pewter color scheme and features details honoring the city of Chicago. More specifically, the insole splits the white, red, and blue colors of the Chicago flag, with the left pair opting for red Kith and Asics text on the blue insole and the right going white-on-red. The rest of the sneaker is done in a metallic grey and silver, which coats the open-spaced mesh, synthetic leather, and TPU paneling. Finishing touches include Gel and Fieg logos on the heel tab and Kayano 14 logos on the lateral heel.

Ronnie Fieg and Asics have a long-standing partnership that dates back to the Kith mogul’s days working for David Z. Since the late 2000s, Ronnie and Asics have launched over 100 colorways across various models, most notably on the Gel-Lyte III which the two will be revisiting later this year. As for the Kayano 14, which is arguably the Japanese footwear brand’s most popular model of the 2020s, Kith has lent its touch to the sneaker on three separate occasions. Once in a Silver Surfer colorway (which came as part of a larger Kith x Marvel pack), one in Cream Scarab, and another in Cream Antler.

The Kith x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 Chicago will release in October to coincide with Kith Chicago’s grand opening. As of now, pricing information has not been announced.
