The Kith founder and Asics go hand-in-hand like peanut butter and jelly. Ronnie Fieg’s Asics collaborations are some of the best of all time, let alone the past decade. In commemoration of their work together, Fieg is set to bring back two classics, reimagined on a different silhouette. On November 11th, 2011, the original Kith Manhattan and Brooklyn flagship stores had their grand openings. To coincide with this, Ronnie Fieg dropped the classic Asics Gel-Lyte III in two special iterations: the “Salmon Toe” and the “Leatherback.”
Ten years later, Fieg is bringing back both the “Salmon Toe” and “Leatherback” themes, reintroduced on the Asics Gel-Lyte V. This also marks the first time Ronnie Fieg has worked on the Gel-Lyte V since 2015. A part of Kith’s 10 Year Capsule, both pairs mimic their Gel-Lyte III predecessors with pigskin suede throughout the uppers, sitting atop a rubber midsole and outsole. Custom 10 Year “KXTH” branding adorns the sockliner and is also found debossed on the back heels, which pays homage to the placement on the original “Salmon Toe” and “Leatherback” Gel-Lyte III’s. Dual tonal branding on the tongue and custom packaging which includes a special box as well as “KXTH” dust bag finish things off.
