What has become one of the most coveted collaborations for many reasons, the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collection that was released earlier in the year was a fever dream moment in sneakers and fashion as the once-bootlegged fantasy became a reality thanks to the work of the late-great Virgil Abloh. Showcased originally in the summer of 2021 and landing in the hands of friends & family of Abloh and LV months before the proper release, rumors had swirled that you’d have to have spent nearly $1 million with the luxury fashion house in order to have a chance to purchase a pair at retail or have a connection to someone within the brand itself. Well, it seems someone who fit that criteria were able to secure multiple pairs - going against what Louis Vuitton allowed - and accidentally revealed information that connected them and their LV rep to the resale listing.
The reason behind this being such a big deal is that Louis Vuitton limited the number of pairs an individual could purchase as well as having a limit for each store, meaning the individual who purchased the six pairs on the receipt went against LV’s terms and conditions. Because of this, the representative who works for Louis Vuitton could lose their job and the person who purchased could be barred from purchasing anything from LV in the future. Considering the ultra-limited nature of the collaboration and how difficult it was for the average person to even come close to securing a pair for retail, seeing someone who had access to six pairs head to the resale market stings for those who wanted to own a piece of sneaker history.
What this leads to we’re not entirely sure but as a developing story we’ll be sure to keep you posted if anything else occurs, so keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest in the sneaker and streetwear world - including releases, raffles, news, and more.
